Poppa Swirls was created from a simple idea and a lot of nostalgia.

After spending many years in the workforce, I (Poppa Swirls himself) wanted to build something of my own, something that brought people together and put a smile on their faces. Just as importantly, I wanted to create a business where people are treated well, hard work is recognised and young people are given real opportunities.

If you’ve spent any time in New Zealand, you’ll know that real fruit ice cream and frozen yoghurt are a summer staple. They’re part of growing up. Beach days, hot afternoons, family outings and the simple joy of lining up for a cone packed with real fruit. People will happily travel across town just to get one and for good reason.

After moving to the Sunshine Coast for the lifestyle and sunshine, it felt only right to bring that same iconic Kiwi summer treat with us. With warm weather almost all year round, it’s about time someone brought real fruit ice cream and frozen yoghurt to the Sunshine Coast.

Rather than setting up in one spot, we wanted to mix the freshness of real fruit ice cream with the old school nostalgia of a classic ice cream van. The kind that turns heads, plays its tune and makes kids and adults smile before they even see the menu.

The Poppa Swirls van is fully self sufficient and event ready, with a built in generator connected directly to the fuel tank. That means we can roll into events big or small without needing external power or a separate generator.
